Basketball Recap: Cesar E. Chavez Takes a Loss

After soaring to 62 points the game before, Cesar E. Chavez was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a 76-30 loss at the hands of the Bellaire Cardinals. The game marked the Lobos' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Defeat or not, Cesar E. Chavez got some senior leadership from Grant Johnson and Jason Tran. Johnson posted ten points and seven boards, while Tran had eight points.

Bellaire's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaren Brown, who put up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Those 11 points gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jadarian Willams, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Cesar E. Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Bellaire, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5.

Cesar E. Chavez wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 42-34 victory against Houston Math Science & Tech on the 16th. As for Bellaire, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-37 defeat against Atascocita on the 14th.
