Basketball Recap: Shepaug Valley Beats Housatonic-Lakeview for Their 15th Straight Win

Shepaug Valley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Housatonic-Lakeview Mountaineers 93-59. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 27 points or more this season.

Shepaug Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reed Woerner led the charge by dropping a double-double on 34 points and 11 boards. Woerner's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Kersten, who went 8 of 17 en route to 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Shepaug Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Shepaug Valley pushed their record up to 15-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.9 points per game. As for Housatonic-Lakeview, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Shepaug Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 84-53 victory against Harding on the 1st. As for Housatonic-Lakeview, they will welcome Wolcott RVT at 3:00 p.m. on February 8th.
