Recap: Tampa Bay Tech Titans vs. Middleton Tigers

The Tampa Bay Tech Titans posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Middleton 48-45. Winning may never get old, but Tampa Bay Tech sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Tampa Bay Tech's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Azjannie Culberth, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Culberth continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Breanna Hartley was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Middleton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ayanna Blake, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Blake pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Anaja Griffin, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

The win got Tampa Bay Tech back to even at 7-7. As for Middleton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.

Tampa Bay Tech will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Plant at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Plant presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tampa Bay Tech in Florida (Plant is ranked 130th, while Tampa Bay Tech is ranked 383rd). As for Middleton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Spoto at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
