Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs vs. Fort Bend Travis Tigers

The Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 23 straight wins but they left with 24. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fort Bend Travis 87-36 at home. Fort Bend Austin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 22 contests by 29 points or more this season.

Fort Bend Austin was led to victory by Shun?teria Anumele and Andrea Sturdivant. Anumele dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Sturdivant shot 5-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Sturdivant is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Crystal Schultz, who scored 16 points along with four steals.

Fort Bend Travis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Anisa Allen, who scored nine points along with two steals, and Jordyn Mays who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Allen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Miller, who scored five points.

Fort Bend Austin's victory was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Fort Bend Travis, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Bend Austin will challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridge Point has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 181 points over their last three matches. Fort Bend Travis will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
