Baseball Recap: River Valley Falcons vs. Del Campo Cougars
River Valley was forced to take a big loss against Del Campo on Monday, they got the better of them on Thursday. The Falcons came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 12-9. Considering the Falcons' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

GONZALO TAVARES made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. River Valley is undefeated when TAVARES posts two or more runs, but 2-15 otherwise.
In other batting news, River Valley got a big performance out of ALFONSO LOPEZ, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Elias Ibarra also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
With the victory, River Valley broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-15. As for Del Campo, they dropped their record down to 8-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
