Basketball Recap: Anayiah Montgomery's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Valley over Las Vegas

After flying high against Amplus Academy last Wednesday, Valley came back down to earth. The Valley Vikings lost to the Las Vegas Wildcats on the road by a 55-40 margin on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 37-31 back in December of 2024.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anayiah Montgomery, who posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was Quinn Steidler, who earned 11 points.

Las Vegas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan DuBois, who put up 17 points and five steals. Those 17 points gave DuBois a new career-high. Mariam Gatore also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Las Vegas, their victory ended a 17-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-16.

Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-18 win against Cheyenne on the 27th. As for Las Vegas, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-23 defeat against Desert Oasis on the 29th.
