Basketball Recap: Silver Valley Extends Winning Streak to Three

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Silver Valley's strategy against Twentynine Palms on Monday. The Silver Valley Trojans enjoyed a cozy 60-44 victory over the Twentynine Palms Wildcats. The win was familiar territory for the Trojans who have now won three games in a row.

Silver Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Javion Taylor led the charge by going 9 of 14 en route to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Taylor's third in a row with at least ten points. Jasean Phillips was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards.

Silver Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Twentynine Palms' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Grabow, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Grabow also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ayden OGilvie, who posted four points along with 15 boards and three steals.

Silver Valley's record is now 11-6. As for Twentynine Palms, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Silver Valley has already played their next matchup, a 72-31 victory against Academy for Academic Excellence on the 15th. As for Twentynine Palms, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 81-61 win against Coachella Valley on the 16th.
