Basketball Game Preview: Harrison Central Huskies vs. Buckeye Local Panthers

Harrison Central and Buckeye Local are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Harrison Central Huskies will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Buckeye Local Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Harrison Central beat Edison 42-38.

Meanwhile, Buckeye Local came into Wednesday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 47-23 margin over Brooke on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 740th in Ohio, while the Bruins are ranked 105th in West Virginia).

Harrison Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Buckeye Local, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-12.

Everything came up roses for Harrison Central against Buckeye Local in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 51-14 win. Does Harrison Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Buckeye Local turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
