Basketball Recap: Malachi Martis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Windermere Prep over Camden

If Windermere Prep was feeling good fresh off their 90-38 takedown of Cornerstone Charter Academy last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Windermere Prep Lakers took a 70-55 bruising from the Camden Panthers on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 95th in Florida, while the Panthers are ranked 32nd in New Jersey).

Several Lakers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malachi Martis, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Martis has posted since back in January of 2024. Brandon Bass Jr. was another key player, putting up 22 points and five boards.

Windermere Prep's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Camden, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.

Windermere Prep is taking a road trip to take on Montverde Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Windermere Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season. As for Camden, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 70-57 victory against Bishop Eustace Prep on the 28th.
