Football Recap: Springfield Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Springfield unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Mountain View Cougars 42-13 on Friday. The Millers gained 111 more yards on the day, but it was the Cougars that made the best use of them.

Colby Kasperek and Adam Hernandez certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Kasperek rushed for 134 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, while Hernandez rushed for 11 yards and one TD. Springfield also got a significant boost from Noah Solo, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.

Springfield will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bend at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Mountain View, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
