Football Game Preview: Perry Traditional Academy Commodores vs. Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights

The Perry Traditional Academy Commodores are taking a road trip to take on the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Perry Traditional Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Perry Traditional Academy's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Westinghouse two weeks ago. They took a blow against the Bulldogs, falling 70-0. While losing is never fun, the Commodores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 488th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, while Wheeling Central Catholic put up plenty of points on Saturday, the same can't be said for Catholic Central. The Maroon Knights blew past the Crusaders 48-0. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for the Maroon Knights this season.

Perry Traditional Academy better keep an eye on Kade Koroneos. He was instrumental in Wheeling Central Catholic's win, rushing for 125 yards and three scores on only nine carries, while also picking up 64 receiving yards and one touchdown. Nico Kusic was another key player, rushing for 39 yards and one TD.

The win made it two in a row for Wheeling Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.5 points over those games. As for Perry Traditional Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Perry Traditional Academy was taken down by Wheeling Central Catholic 41-12 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Commodores were down 41-0.
