Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Clint's Fifth in Last Six Outings

While Clint's win against San Elizario wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Monday. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Lions have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

The result came thanks to Daniel Ochoa's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Clint is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-8-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mario Pacheco, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

Clint has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for San Elizario, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Looking ahead, San Elizario will take on Cathedral at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clint will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' matchup: after the Eagles faces off against the Fighting Irish, they'll take on Clint again at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
