Football Preview: Metter Tigers vs. Hawkinsville Red Devils

The Metter Tigers will take on the Hawkinsville Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Metter sitting on eight straight wins and Hawkinsville on three.

Last Friday, Metter didn't have too much trouble with Emanuel County Institute as they won 28-10.

Michael Ricks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 208 yards and a touchdown on only 17 passes. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Kahne Brown, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Nieem Blair was his usual excellent self, rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, while also catching a touchdown.

Metter pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.8 points per game. As for Hawkinsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
