Basketball Recap: Amherst Takes a Loss

Amherst lost against Freedom back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Amherst Falcons were beaten by the Freedom Irish 53-16. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Irish are ranked 147th).

Amherst has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Freedom, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Amherst will take on Wittenberg-Birnamwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wittenberg-Birnamwood will roll in looking for their 18th straight win, something Amherst surely won't give up without a fight. As for Freedom, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 41-26 victory against Oconto Falls on the 4th.
