The Queen Creek Bulldogs will welcome the Salpointe Catholic Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Queen Creek will be strutting in after a win while Salpointe Catholic will be coming in after a loss.
If Salpointe Catholic heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Queen Creek took over last week. The Bulldogs came out on top against Red Mountain by a score of 30-22 on Friday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Mountain Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The critical scores for Queen Creek came from David Rosson, Yanniv Djassa, Bear Fisher, and Kayden Kellogg.
Queen Creek's run defense was locked in: Red Mountain could only muster 1.5 yards per carry. While three picked up at least nine total tackles, Rj Jackson stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss). Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Queen Creek; they were averaging 4.8yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 4.4 per game.

Queen Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Colton Cox. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Queen Creek received some extra help from Fisher, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Salpointe Catholic faced Pinnacle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Lancers took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. While the Lancers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Pioneers 14-0.
Queen Creek will have to keep a close watch on Chris Chaney and Rayce Alvarez, a pair of players who had a big impact on Salpointe Catholic's prior game. Chaney gained 106 total yards and two touchdowns, while Alvarez threw for 248 yards and one touchdown.
Queen Creek's record now sits at 6-4. As for Salpointe Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
Queen Creek didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Salpointe Catholic when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 12-6 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Lancers' Gage Felix, who picked up 194 receiving yards. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Bulldogs to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
