Softball Recap: Walnut Comes Up Short

Walnut dropped down to 9-6 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Glendora Tartans, falling 16-0. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tartans from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Walnut saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paloma Pasquil, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Glendora, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-1-2 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Glendora's side, they got a great performance from Gianna Messick as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Kiley Coleman was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with six RBI, three doubles, and one run. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Curiel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Walnut will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bonita at 3:30 p.m. on the 13th. As for Glendora, they will venture away from home to square off against Burroughs at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
