Softball Recap: La Marque Takes a Loss

La Marque lost against Stafford back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars lost 18-3 to the Spartans. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jaylyn Perry was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Karen Salazar was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

La Marque's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Stafford, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season.

La Marque will welcome Fort Bend Willowridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stafford, they will venture away from home to square off against Almeta Crawford at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
