Basketball Recap: Maine South Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Oswego East

Maine South lost to Oswego East back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Maine South Hawks managed a 52-47 victory over the Oswego East Wolves. The win was all the more spectacular given the Hawks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Wolves are ranked 93rd).

Maine South's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Oswego East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Maine South and Brother Rice will face off at 3:45 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Brother Rice will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Maine South surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oswego East, they will head out to square off against Lincoln-Way East at 2:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
