Softball Game Preview: Central Crossing Comets vs. St. Francis DeSales Stallions

The Central Crossing Comets will head out to square off against the St. Francis DeSales Stallions at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Central Crossing will be strutting in after a win while St. Francis DeSales will be coming in after a defeat.

Central Crossing took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Jonathan Alder, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Comets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Pioneers on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Comets.

Hayliee Roberts made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Roberts was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makayla Unrue, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Russell, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Central Crossing kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, St. Francis DeSales was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 12-7 to Thomas Worthington.

St. Francis DeSales' loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Central Crossing, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Central Crossing might still be hurting after the 22-14 defeat they got from St. Francis DeSales when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
