The Eastlake Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Valhalla Norsemen at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Eastlake 1.7, Valhalla 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Eastlake is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Holtville on Saturday as Eastlake made off with a 12-0 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Titans with their most commanding win of the season.
Camila Castillo looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Deziree Gomez was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Chloe Cruz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Eastlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Valhalla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Cathedral Catholic.
Devyn Mack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Preslee Fink made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
The victory made it two in a row for Eastlake and bumps their season record up to 7-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Valhalla, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Eastlake skirted past Valhalla 4-3 in their previous matchup on March 1st. Does Eastlake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valhalla turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
