Baseball Recap: Walkertown Beats South Stokes for Their Third Straight Victory

Walkertown made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Stokes, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Walkertown Wolfpack put the hurt on the South Stokes Sauras with a sharp 12-2 win on Tuesday. The Wolfpack might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Caden Joyce spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up eight Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Owen Tidd was a standout: he scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Olmedo, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4.

The victory (which was Walkertown's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Stokes, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Walkertown will head out on the road to square off against Southern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Walkertown knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Southern Guilford likes a good challenge. As for South Stokes, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McMichael at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
