Basketball Recap: Nichols Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Nichols extended their home winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Julieta Cruz. The Nichols Vikings really took it to the Williamsville North Spartans for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-33 victory thanks in part to Cruz, who dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 11 boards, and ten steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Barabas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Those 12 points gave her a new career-high.

Nichols has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Williamsville North, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nichols will take on Nardin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Williamsville North, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lancaster will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Williamsville North surely won't give up without a fight.
