The Hume-Fogg Blue Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Hume-Fogg's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Hume-Fogg and Glencliff, and Hume-Fogg kept the tradition alive. The Blue Knights blew past the Colts 15-0 on Monday.
Bennett Brock and Aevan Sharma made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Brock pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sharma pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Hume-Fogg: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 5-9 otherwise. At bat, Brock went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run, while Sharma went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Hume-Fogg let William Currie and Baker Cooper run wild. Currie scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances, while Cooper scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Hume-Fogg is undefeated when Currie posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxim Miller, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Hume-Fogg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Stratford by a score of 7-4 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won nine in a row.
Brey Bacher looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Monroe Peters, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Kai Bledsoe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hume-Fogg, their record is now 7-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hume-Fogg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Hume-Fogg was able to grind out a solid win over Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet in their previous meeting last Tuesday, winning 14-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
