Basketball Recap: Yazlyn Buffington Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Southaven

After losing to Southaven the last time they met, Center Hill decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mustangs secured a 44-39 W over the Chargers on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Center Hill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yazlyn Buffington, who posted 19 points. The Mustangs are 2-1 when Buffington posts 15 or more points, but 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bailee Dunn, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 10 points and eight boards.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Southaven, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Center Hill is taking a road trip to take on Hutchison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southaven, they will challenge Charleston at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
