Basketball Recap: Middle College Takes a Loss

If Middle College was feeling good fresh off their 63-25 takedown of Stella High Charter Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Middle College Cougars fell 63-53 to the Horace Mann UCLA Community Panthers on Wednesday. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Horace Mann UCLA Community to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rolando Montgomery, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Nasir May, who put up 13 points.

Middle College dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Horace Mann UCLA Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Middle College Cougars face off against the Animo South Los Angeles Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Middle College is facing Animo South Los Angeles at the right time seeing as Animo South Los Angeles is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Horace Mann UCLA Community, they will host Stella High Charter Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Stella High Charter Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
