Basketball Game Preview: Martin Warriors vs. Haltom Buffalos

The Martin Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Haltom Buffalos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Martin has three straight victories, Haltom has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Martin is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since December 27, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past Bowie 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted against the Volunteers since February 2, 2021.

Meanwhile, Haltom ended up a good deal behind Grand Prairie on Tuesday and lost 73-54. While losing is never fun, the Buffalos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 728th, while the Gophers are ranked 180th).

Haltom's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Martin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-12 record this season.

Martin took their win against Haltom in their previous meeting on January 7th by a conclusive 61-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Martin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
