Baseball Recap: Calhoun Academy Has No Trouble Against Orangeburg Prep

Calhoun Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Orangeburg Prep, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Cavaliers blew past the Indians 11-3 on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cavaliers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Cullen Sightler was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joseph Lyons, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Calhoun Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Orangeburg Prep, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3.

Calhoun Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Indians: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
