Baseball Recap: Hugo Has No Trouble Against Atoka

Hugo barely beat Atoka the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hugo Buffaloes were the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over the Atoka Wampus Cats on Monday. With that victory, the Buffaloes brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Dk Wilson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hugo is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dakota Coulter, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Hugo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Logan Allen was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Hugo's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Atoka, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Hugo will have a chance to go back-to-back against Atoka: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
