The St. John Paul II Panthers came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 62-54 victory over Trinity Catholic on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for St. John Paul II, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
St. John Paul II's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mario Forbes, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Forbes is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cayden King, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
St. John Paul II's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13. As for Trinity Catholic, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.
St. John Paul II will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Eagles on February 8th. As for Trinity Catholic, they and the Rams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
