Baseball Recap: Franklin County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Franklin County had lost five games straight , but after bumping their record up to 6-9 on Saturday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Northeastern Knights. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Knights on Saturday, they had to take a 7-5 loss.

Owen Baker looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Braylon Kruthaupt was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Franklin County is 4-2 when Kruthaupt posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Blake Stephenson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Northeastern, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 13, 2024.

On Northeastern's side, Logan White was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Isaacs, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Franklin County is taking a road trip to take on Lawrenceburg at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northeastern, they will be playing at home against Randolph Southern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
