Baseball Recap: Dayton Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Dayton nor Crosby made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Broncos' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars a 4-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Broncos sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Not much got past Hunter Wallace, who gave up just four hits to keep Crosby off the board. Wallace also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dayton is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-13 otherwise.

At the plate, Dayton's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zak Wood, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another was Anthony Zuniga, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The victory got Dayton back to even at 14-14. As for Crosby, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-13-1.

Dayton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
