Baseball Recap: Mission Hills Comes Up Short

Mission Hills extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-11 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sage Creek Bobcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 on Tuesday.

Brody Agonia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.

On the hitting side, Mission Hills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brock Young, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Sage Creek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Sage Creek's side, not much got past Hudson Jahries, who gave up just three hits to keep Mission Hills off the board. Jahries has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aiden Vogel was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Rangel, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mission Hills beat Sage Creek by a score of 7-4 on Saturday.
