Softball Game Preview: St. Michael Cardinals vs. Mayer Wildcats

The St. Michael Cardinals will head out to challenge the Mayer Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Michael has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Michael came up short against El Capitan on Saturday, falling 12-6. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rhyley Meyers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Brooke Bitsoi also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Mayer had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Matador with a sharp 34-24 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

St. Michael's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Mayer, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
