Soccer Game Preview: Centennial vs. Heritage

The Centennial Titans will face off against the Heritage Coyotes at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

If Centennial beats Heritage with two goals on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Centennial had just enough and edged Emerson out 2-1. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Heritage was not quite Lebanon Trail's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the Trail Blazers by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Coyotes came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Trail Blazers are ranked 341st).

Centennial's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five games. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Centennial beat Heritage by a goal when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centennial since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
