Recap: Hoisington Cardinals vs. Smoky Valley Vikings
The Hoisington Cardinals are still undefeated this season after their contest against the Smoky Valley Vikings on Tuesday, but the Smoky Valley Vikings came as close as anyone has to beating them. Hoisington came out on top in a nail-biter against Smoky Valley and snuck past 49-46. Given Hoisington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Smoky Valley is ranked 151st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ellie Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Hahn, who scored five points along with five assists and three steals.
Hoisington pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Smoky Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoisington will take on Beloit at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smoky Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hillsboro at 6:00 p.m. Hillsboro will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
