Softball Game Preview: Blue Mountain Eagles vs. North Schuylkill Spartans

Blue Mountain has gone 9-1 against North Schuylkill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Eagles will challenge the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Blue Mountain is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Palmerton a 10-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Chloe Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Addyson Fishburn was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Avery Hudock was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Blue Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, North Schuylkill got the win against Saucon Valley on Thursday by a conclusive 10-2.

Blue Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for North Schuylkill, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.

Blue Mountain couldn't quite finish off North Schuylkill in their previous matchup back in April and fell 3-1. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
