Softball Game Preview: Dalton Bulldogs vs. Chippewa Chipps

The Dalton Bulldogs will face off against the Chippewa Chipps at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dalton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

On Monday, it was close, but Dalton sidestepped Wooster for a 3-2 win.

Mei Simmons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lily Teague was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Chippewa had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Central Christian on Monday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Chipps' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Chippewa's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Dalton, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5.

Dalton took their win against Chippewa when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Chipps have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
