Softball Recap: San Juan Broncos vs. Aztec Tigers
After flying high against Pojoaque Valley on Saturday, San Juan came back down to earth. San Juan fell just short of the Aztec Tigers by a score of 8-6 on Saturday.
Kheirra Keith was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Keith was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
Keith wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Khatira Keith, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
San Juan has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. Aztec's victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
San Juan has already played their next matchup, an 11-10 loss against Gunnison Valley on the 25th. As for Aztec, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-2 win against West Mesa on the 27th.
