Football Recap: Martin County Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Martin County waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Sebring Blue Streaks by a score of 13-0.

A big part of Martin County's victory came down to the chemistry between Calista Scornavacca and her top target Anna Staten. Scornavacca threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80.6% of her passes while Staten picked up 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Martin County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Staten and Kahlee Hendrix were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece.

Martin County's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.7 points on average over those games. As for Sebring, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martin County will head out to face off against Vero Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Martin County's defense has only allowed 8.3 points per game this season, so Vero Beach's offense will have their work cut out for them. Sebring will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Okeechobee at 7:30 p.m. on March 24th.
