Softball Recap: Northern Bedford County Comes Up Short

Northern Bedford County and Meyersdale squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Northern Bedford County had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Red Raiders: they've now lost five in a row.

Mylee Mitchell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Mitchell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Helsel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Northern Bedford County's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Meyersdale, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6.

As of now, neither Northern Bedford County nor the Red Raiders have any future games scheduled.
