Baseball Recap: Sharon's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Sharon and Slippery Rock, and Slippery Rock kept the tradition alive. The Tigers fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Will Beckert was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Carmine Thomas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Sharon's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Slippery Rock, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sharon will head out to challenge Sharpsville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Slippery Rock, they will venture away from home to square off against Oil City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets are facing the Oilers at the right time seeing as the Oilers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
