Baseball Recap: Salem Comes Up Short

Salem had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 10-12 to make it four. They lost 7-0 to the St. John Paul II Lions. The match marked the first time this year in which the Witches were not able to get on the board.

As for St. John Paul II, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-2. Considering they have won 17 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For St. John Paul II's part, not much got past Brian Mancinelli, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Salem off the board. Mancinelli has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Henry Roy, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Logan Our was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As of now, neither Salem nor St. John Paul II have any future games scheduled.
