Baseball Game Preview: Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles vs. Crossroads Christian Colts

Cape Fear Christian Academy has gone 8-1 against Crossroads Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will head out to take on the Colts at 5:15 p.m. Cape Fear Christian Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Crossroads Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Cape Fear Christian Academy took on Lee Christian on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 10-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Fisher Stancil was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Cape Fear Christian Academy is undefeated when Stancil posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyson Stephens, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Parrish, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Crossroads Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Pungo Christian Academy on Friday and fell 9-7. The Colts have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Cody Paschall was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Ben Adcock was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cape Fear Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Crossroads Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Cape Fear Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Crossroads Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
