Preview: Pinson Valley Indians vs. Fairfield Tigers
Pinson Valley is 7-2 against Fairfield since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Pinson Valley Indians on the road again and play against the Fairfield Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, Pinson Valley faced JAG in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pinson Valley walked away with a 70-59 win over JAG.
Meanwhile, Fairfield had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They strolled past John Carroll Catholic with points to spare, taking the game 56-38. Given Fairfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while John Carroll Catholic is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinson Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Fairfield, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2.
Pinson Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Fairfield when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 60-56 win. Will Pinson Valley repeat their success, or does Fairfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
