Softball Game Preview: Northampton Yellowjackets vs. Mathews Blue Devils

Northampton is 0-3 against Mathews since May of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Yellowjackets will face off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Northampton has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Northampton lost 15-2 to Arcadia on Thursday.

Northampton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Caison, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Middlesex hit Mathews with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 10-8. The defeat continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Chargers: they've now lost five in a row.

Northampton's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Mathews, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Northampton might still be hurting after the 16-9 loss they got from Mathews in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
