Softball Game Preview: Windthorst Trojans vs. Whitewright Tigers

For the second straight game, Windthorst will face off against Whitewright. The Trojans will host the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Windthorst heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Whitewright by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Trojans have suffered since March 6th.

For Whitewright's part, Taryn Minzenmayer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Minzenmayer has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Zarah Prieto was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Joslyn Jones was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The win was the seventh in a row for Whitewright, bringing their record up to 19-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Windthorst, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-13.
