Basketball Recap: Father Lopez Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Father Lopez was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Deltona on Tuesday. Everything went the Father Lopez Green Wave's way against the Deltona Wolves as the Father Lopez Green Wave made off with an 83-62 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Green Wave have posted since November 21, 2024.

Father Lopez's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jonathan Powell, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. What's more, Powell also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Westen Brownlee was another key player, putting up 22 points.

Powell wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Father Lopez was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Father Lopez's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9. As for Deltona, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Father Lopez has already played their next game (against Joshua Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Deltona will square off against Pine Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pine Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Deltona likes a good challenge.
