Softball Game Preview: Glenn Falcons vs. Varsity Opponent

The Glenn Falcons will face off against Varsity Opponent at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Glenn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Glenn fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Tippecanoe Valley on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 5-4. The Falcons' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

McKenzie Timm spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Payton Thomas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Addi Manering, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Varsity Opponent didn't have quite enough to beat Prince of Peace on Friday and fell 8-6.

Glenn now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Varsity Opponent, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 32-75-2.
