Baseball Game Preview: Homewood Patriots vs. Cullman Bearcats

The Homewood Patriots will venture away from home to square off against the Cullman Bearcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Homewood has six straight wins, Cullman has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Homewood barely beat Ramsay the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Rams on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 16 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Cullman came up short against Madison Academy on Monday and fell 10-5. That's two games in a row now that the Bearcats have lost by exactly five runs.

Homewood pushed their record up to 26-6 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Cullman, their loss dropped their record down to 14-14.

Homewood might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Cullman when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
