Baseball Game Preview: Nimitz Cougars vs. Benjamin Davis Falcons

Nimitz is 0-10 against Benjamin Davis since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. Nimitz will venture away from home to square off against Benjamin Davis at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nimitz is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Westfield on Saturday. Nimitz blew past Westfield 9-3. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Davis earned a 9-5 win over Dekaney on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

The team relied heavily on Jesus Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was John Ureste, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Benjamin Davis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Benjamin Davis back to even at 7-7-1. As for Nimitz, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-10.

Nimitz might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Benjamin Davis when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Nimitz avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
